In summer 2022, Chris Tilney and his son Mark used Chris’s own collection of bricks and Mark’s expertise to build a Brick Heritage Monument, which was officially unveiled at a Heritage Open Day on Friday 9th September.

Brickworks of the North East

Chris’s idea came as a result of the publication of a new edition of Brickworks of the North East. The author, Peter Davison, had given permission to one of our Heritage volunteers, writer Val Scully, to make the new book, publish it under the imprint Path Head Press, and sell it to raise funds for the mill.
