Local History Event

This event is now sold out

Working with Ben Underwood, Val Scully has produced a new book to tell the story of the rescue and renovation of the mill.  It was printed locally, at Penny Print in Dunston, and is now on sale for £10, with all proceeds going to our charitable trust.

Path Head and its immediate vicinity is packed with historical interest, and this event, partly a launch for the new book, is for anyone interested in our local history. Val is currently researching the roughly triangular area between the mill, Stella Hall, and the Black Bull on Bridge Street, including Blaydon Burn.  There is a wealth of material already available, but she is particularly interested to talk to anyone who has family photos, stories or information to contribute, so please bring anything along that you might like to share.

A buffet will be provided by our wonderful cafe volunteers, and historical photographs and materials will be on display.  Val will give a short talk about the new book and the one she is researching now, then she and local historian John Boothroyd will be on hand to chat to guests and hopefully share their contributions about the social and industrial history of this fascinating area.

Information for ticket holders –

Doors open at 6.15pm, talk begins at 6.45pm in workshop, buffet served at 7.30pm in cafe.

Event ends around 8.30pm
