Volunteer Stories
I came to the mill as a visitor and was made very welcome, even when I visited alone. I decided i would like to volunteer and began to help in the tearoom at weekends. Everyone was so friendly and I feel like a valued member of the team
Since volunteering I have met so many new friends and the mill has become a big part of my life.
I volunteer by looking after our social media pages, to help raise awareness of our beautiful Mill and Grounds, and let everyone know what a fantastic site it is. Sometimes, I have even been co-opted into washing dishes for our lovely Cakey Ladies on particularly busy days!
In 2022 I took part in a well-being walk with Gateshead Art Diamonds at Path Head Watermill - I was completely delighted, it felt like falling in love! I've been coming to the Mill most Tuesdays since then.
Hi I'm John … a retired Engineer and fell walker. I really enjoy working here, grass cutting and general maintenance. My fellow volunteers are so easy to work with and the craic is great fun.
